The fifth edition was built around the theme Roots. The opening concert took Mother Earth as its subject with Ariel Ramirez's Misa Criolla performed by the Bolivian group Sacambaya, the gala Let Freedom Sing brought together the Latvian State Choir Latvija, the Jugendchor Österreich and the UNICEF Donor's Choir from Korea, and The King's Singers brought their fiftieth anniversary programme to the Stefaniensaal.
